Boost Flying Start: Financial Essentials - Making the Numbers Add Up

Ever fancied having your own business and being your own boss? Then this masterclass is for YOU!

In this workshop you will learn:
    
• Why managing your finance is important;
• How to record business expenses and sales (money in and money out); 
• What to consider with business expenses;
• How the way you are paid and your policies/operations can impact cashflow;
• What tax to pay on profits;
• To differentiate between bookkeeping and accounting;
• To project costs and sales to help with investment, projects, and fundraising;

You will also have new confidence and tools to help manage business finances more effectively and understand your basic tax and reporting obligations as a sole trader, touching briefly on Ltd companies.

The second masterclass is on the 11/02/2025 on the topic of Marketing Essentials To Make Your Business Stand Out.

This masterclass is delivered by Selnet, on behalf of Boost’s Flying Start service and presented by the Flying Start business adviser Liz Tapner.

Liz is the driving force behind Selnet and responsible for developing it into the major infrastructure organisation that it is today.

A chartered business adviser and business mentor, she has extensive experience of business support programmes having worked for, and with, local authorities across the North West throughout her career. She specialises in finance and accounts and is able to support clients in all aspects of financial planning.

The Flying Start service is for early-stage businesses that have traded for less than three years, and aspiring individuals with a great business idea.

It is aimed at leaders who have a bright and growing vision for their new business. The service focusses on building business and financial acumen and the core skills to establish a new business and drive sustainable growth.

This service is available to businesses within the Burnley Council local authority area and also open to residents in:
Blackburn with Darwen, Chorley, Fylde, Hyndburn Borough, Pendle, Preston, South Ribble,  West Lancashire and Wyre Council areas.
